First, some pictures.
I decided it'd be best to run the Panel OF DOOM while wearing a suit. And various ridiculous headgear. Here's me in an outlandish wig along with an equally outlandish baseball cap:

What's that cap say, anyway? We gotta get a closeup of that:

I learned that night that when you're in a room that has no working AC which is also packed with people, it gets incredibly hot. Especially when you've got on a suit.
Here's another great hat. None of these props actually belong to me, mind you. My hotelmates just had them in tow with them, as is customary:

Danno was there as well. Here's a shot of him assisting me during my time of extreme cranial duress:

Onto the actual recap. While setting up, I popped in Danno's Japanorama DVD (not to be confused with the BBC Japanorama which I'd run some clips from) since it consists of a bunch of weird clips. I didn't realize until it was too late that the very first clip on the disc had...partially exposed women's breasts. JOKE'S ON ME! The AWA lineup was essentially the AFO lineup (http://animehell.forumco.com/topic~TOPIC_ID~79.asp), only with the Hell footage such as Forklift Driver Klaus and Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue removed. This freed up about 30 minutes of my 2 hour block. Or at least, I thought it was going to be a 2 hour block, and as such I had trimmed down the panel to fit within that timeframe, but this year I found out that I could fill as much time as I pleased. Fortunately, I always bring some extra footage (just not as much as I would have otherwise had), so I was able to fill a bit over 3 hours, and everything wrapped up at midnight. Here's what I ran in addition to the AFO lineup; it includes some of the Anime Express lineup and AS SHOCKING AS IT SEEMS, new material for AWA, primarily in the form of even more ridiculous Arnold clips:
Dr Reanimator - Move Your Dead Bones (expect a frontpage update about this gem soon) Mind Your Manners With Billy Quan - Fumes of Fury 1981 commercial featuring the Burger King skiing Zardoz - Sean Connery in a wedding dress World Shut Your Mouth - You Big Fat Liar Japanorama - Crybaby Daily Show - Tonik the EXTREME Health Insurance Vote Beeblebrox Zardoz - Kill ME, too! The Awful Truth - Pistol Pete World Shut Your Mouth - Beach Commando - Letting Sully Go Corn Pone Flicks - Philadelphia Before Benjamin Franklin & Thomas Paine World Shut Your Mouth - Potted Geranium Oh Mikey - A Peep Hole American Ninja - Ninja with wristmounted laser gun The Villain - Drinking and Driving Don't Mix Commando - Dead Tired Cool Breeze trailer Corn Pone Flicks - Desslok's Big Score World Shut Your Mouth - Posse Japanorama - Dir En Gray (followed by a shot of THE SPECIAL PICTURE, then a rendition of THE SPECIAL PICTURE made using...er, well...ever heard of "blood art"?) World Shut Your Mouth - Ice Fishing + Cymbals The Villain - Stopping Runaway Horses Look Around You - Brain Experiment 1 World Shut Your Mouth - Maxi Priest TV Funhouse - Conspiracy Theory Rock The Villain - Seven Shot Six Shooter Japanorama - How to Laugh Like a Lady Kindergarten Cop - IT'S NOT A TUMOR Look Around You - Brain Experiment 2 World Shut Your Mouth - Mailing Self to Florida Hercules in New York - Arnold is Completely Unintelligible Scenes From the World of Tomorrow Atari Commercial - Alan Alda and Equality Between the Sexes The Villain - Knock Knock Jokes Bambi 2002 Commando - How to Fire a Rocket Launcher Predator - DO IT, DO IT NOWWWWWWWW Hercules in New York - Most Unconvincing Feats of Athleticism Ever Commando - I DON'T NEED THE GIRL Bob Sapp vs Morning Musume Ayaka's Surprise English Lessons - How Many Members Are In Morning Musume? Zardoz - One Last Trick? Simpsons - Poochie Stork Patrol -- I'm glad this disturbed the crowd, since the amount of fursuiters at AWA was making me start to wonder if Dragoncon was leaking Commando - Let Off Some Steam (followed by super slow motion instant replay) Zardoz - The Absolutely Lame Ending
I'd say this was the best Panel OF DOOM ever. Even though I was going up against the J-Music sleepover, the fourth Inuyasha movie, a theater room showing of Final Fantasy Advent Children (which became two showings), a ballroom filled with yaoi-crazed fangirls (other than the ones seeing Advent Children, Inuyasha, or the J-Music...man there's a lot of fans of cartoon male homosexual children sex at anime cons), the costume contest, not one but TWO dances, and the Cowboy Bebop Lounge, AWA this year was big enough such that every single event on Saturday night was packed to capacity and then some. The fact that the room was in the perfect spot (right next to Main Events, Artist's Alley, and the Dealer's Room entrance!) was a boon as well. By the time I wrapped up at midnight, that was when the room was "only" filled to the point where all the seats were taken.
Anime cons, take note; Anime Hell and the Panel OF DOOM need bigger rooms:

Though in the case of AWA, I'm not sure exactly WHERE said room would be, unless they were to take more convention center space next year to house the Yaoi Super Show, thus freeing up Kennesaw (where Totally Lame Anime and Dubs That Time Forgot were).

Dude, I gotta admit, I thought your Mad Hatter gimick was good stuff. Good enough to borrow for the next OtakuHELL show. How many hats did you wear during your doomed panel?
